The Jacket’s played a physical game as the Devils, forgoing the use of wide receivers on the field, closed in on the line of scrimmage with a two-tight wishbone formation. This strong running formation--with a fullback and two halfbacks joining the quarterback
Derrish Pitman runs into a wall of Gators
The Ware County Gators took a big bite out of the Yellow Jackets sting Friday night in Waycross. The two teams played to a scoreless first quarter but the ineffective offense afforded the Gators a chance to wear down the Yellow Jackets defense, scoring 21 points before halftime. The loss dropped the Jackets to 1-4 in region play.

Senior Night vs Greenbrier

Rebels overthrow Jackets 27-0

By Luke Eden

The Press-Sentinel

The Wayne County High Yellow Jackets fell to the Effingham County Rebels Friday in a 27-0 shutout.

“I’m disappointed,” said coach Craig Davis after the game, “and disappointed for these seniors. They’re playing hard and practicing hard, but we’re just not coming out on top. Offensively we’re not moving the football. Even though we did better tonight, we just didn’t do enough. It’s a disappointment, but the kids are playing hard and that’s what we’ve got to continue to do.”

The Rebels took command of the field early Friday night, holding their lines and marching up the gridiron with a steady, determined running game.

Pirates plunder Jayce Stadium

Brunswick @ Wayne Co
By Luke Eden The Press-Sentinel

The pirates sailed away with a 28-2 victory after a lethal raid on Wayne County Friday night. Coming off a two game winning streak against Groves and Glynn Academy, and with a 3-1 record this season, the Pirates clearly have their eyes on a playoff spot--and they certainly played that way Friday.
The blitzing, attack-oriented defense of the Pirates took a heavy toll on the Jackets’ offense, and injuries to Sterling Young, Pat Smith, Rafael Hendrix, Laquavious Brown, and Vinson Merritt sorely taxed the Jackets ability to move the football.
“Our running game is not the same without Smith in the lineup,” said head coach Craig Davis after Smith limped off the field in the third quarter with a taped ankle.

Jackets have a Devil of time

Wayne Co. @ Statesboro

Sept. 26, 2007 By Luke Eden, The Press-Sentinel

STATESBORO --It was smash-mouth football Friday night in Statesboro, as the Blue Devils’ commanding offensive line dictated play for most of the night.

Danta Vail

behind the line of scrimmage as possible runners--gave the Devils a host of options to keep the Jackets’ defensive line guessing.
With the variety and misdirection of Devils’ option-style offense the Jackets had a difficult time preventing one devilish sweep after another.
